Hello crankypants,

Something is very wrong  Very, very wrong

Death Reg# 1946/B06773 Thornley Frederick William Betsy Ball

The Sydney Morning Herald - Saturday 15 June 1946
DEATHS
THORNLEY-June 1, 1946 passed away suddenly at Brisbane, Fredrick Thornley, loved brother of Pollie, Tom, Ethel and Alf. Privately cremated.

The Frederick in my tree is the son of William and Betsy BALL and he has living siblings: Mary Alice, Thomas William, Ethel and Alfred.

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848-1954) - Monday 26 November 1945
LAW NOTICES
FREDERICK THORNLEY, of Trafalgar Avenue, Roseville, in the State of New South Wales, Retired Pharmaceutical Chemist, Deceased. - After fourteen clear days Flora Ethel Thornley of 36 Trafalgar avenue, Roseville, In the said State, widow, the executrix to whom probate of the deceased's will (dated the 12th April, 1939) was granted by the Supreme Court of New South Wales on the 1st September, 1943, will APPLY to the Supreme Court of Victoria that its SEAL may be AFFIXED to the Exemplification of the said probate.
H. S. W. LAWSON & Co, Solicitors, 314 Collins st., Melbourne.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wednesday 21 October 1942
DEATHS
THORNLEY -October 17 1942 at Northwood, Theresa Geraldine, relict of the late Frederick Thornley and dearly loved mother of Gertrude and Manfred. Privately Interred at Cranebrook Cemetery October 19, 1942. R.I.P.

The Brisbane Courier - Saturday 1 September 1900
MARRIAGES
MURCHISON-THORNLEY.-On the 8th August, at Christ Church, Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Flora Ethel, only daughter of Kenneth Murchison, to Frederick Thornley, of Maryborough, youngest son of the late Robert S. Thornley.

So, it appears we have THREE of them. One from Maryborough, Qld. son of Robert. Probably the one in the Qld. E/R and not mine.

The one who was the spouse of Flora Ethel must have died BEFORE 26 Nov 1945 and therefore can't be mine.

That must mean I have the wrong spouse ??? for my Frederick.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Did I get too much sleep last night? Why did I think my Frederick had married Flora Ethel? How silly redf) My Frederick was born in 1892 in Marrickville. Of these three marriages in NSW there is only one that fits my Frederick:

172/1885 THORNLEY FREDERICK HEATON TERESA SYDNEY
6051/1900 THORNLEY FREDERICK MURCHISON FLORA E COONABARABRAN
9538/1915 THORNLEY FREDERICK TURNER ELSIE M NEWTOWN

Dave

I have the NSW reg of two children born in Marrickville to Frederick & Elsie M. My tree is correct after all that!

But I still don't know if the Qld. E/R are my Frederick or not.

Dave

Hi Dave

I do feel sorry for you, do you realise it's been over a month now since you've had a decent sleep. I guess you do.:(
A few years ago I was on prescribed tablets to give up smoking and one of the side effects was insomnia. By the 3rd morning I was ready to shoot myself, should say so was husband.:D

cheers

Hello crankypants,

Yes, I half realise it. :D I'm functioning at about 50% I'd say. I'm way too scared of those strong sleeping pills to use 2 of them every night for 6 weeks. Where is the 'yawn' smilie ? :2fun: I have to hang on until the 24th when I'm due to see the specialist.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wednesday 5 February 1919
DEATHS
THORNLEY- February 4, 1919, at his residence, Bolton, Livingston-road, Marrickville, Charles, dearly loved husband of Lillian Thornley and beloved father of May Thornley, aged 38 years.
THORNLEY May Death notice 17FEB1991 Death 80 late of Warrimoo, formerly of Marrickville Sydney Morning Herald 19FEB1991

Checking Ryerson for all THORNLEYs with 'May' shows that one as being the most likely to be the daughter of Charles & Lillian born about 1911. :D No, I've not asked for a NSW birth look up yet. It's possible May was a middle name or she is just not in E/R.

Reg# 5237/1909 THORNLEY CHARLES BLACKBORROW LILLIAN MARRICKVILLE

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Is the Elsie May THORNLEY in E/R in 1937 & 1943 in Macquarie with a Thomas H or a Harold J?

It seems we have THREE Elsie M :D and only one belongs in my tree.

I'm still wondering if I have the correct marriage.

Thanks.

Dave
