Searching for info on my grandfathers Boer War army records. His name was John Louis Hubbard. He served with the Durban Light Infantry in company "A". He was Private 234 and the archives reference is WO 127/8. Obviously living in SA I cant go to the archives myself. I dont want any documents, just to know who he gave as his next of kin (he wasnt married at the time) and any home address he may have given.
Any help would be much appreciated as this is a huge gap in my family tree research.

Hi Steve, Thank you for the info. I will investigate all these links. Incidentally I gave the incorrect Company for my grandfather John Louis Hubbard. He was in the "B" Comany and NOT the "A" companyof the Durban Light Infantry. He was born in 1878 or 1879 in Somerset East but I have NO details of his family. I have investigated many Hubbards who were in Somerset East at that time, but cant find a trace of him. Therefore I thought it might say on his service records who he gave as next of kin and maybe a home address as he wasnt married at the time.

Hi Sybil

Try the Durban Light Infantry on 031 4511796. They do have a historian who can look in the records for you
