I WAS interested yesterday to meet Miss Effie Duesbury, of Killara, the great-great-granddaughter of the founder of the Crown Derby potteries, which she visited during a recent trip abroad.
Miss Duesbury not only has a link with old England, but also a link with early Australla.
The descendants of the founder of the Derby potteries-her grandfather, grand mother, and their six children-came to Australla in 1864, the voyage taking five and a half months. Two of those children survive Mr. Lewis Duesbury, of Camden, and Mr. Fred Duesbury, of Brisbane. Miss Duesbury's father, the Rev. Frank Duesbury, of Sydney died in 1924.
Miss Duesbury's maternal grandfather Henry Carter Perdriau, was also one of the early settlers, and the owner of the first ferries which ran on Sydney Harbour.
