Hello,

I'd like a look up please for the YOUNG family in 1881. They are here in 1871.

1871
Civil parish Broughton
RD Salford
Sub RD Broughton
Ann Holgate head age 47 born Chesterfield Derbyshire
Samuel Young lodger age 21 occ joiner born Ireland
Frances E Young lodger age 19 born Manchester
William A Young age 2mths born Manchester
Births Mar 1871
YOUNG William Alfred Salford 8d 44

A daughter Lydia was born 1872-1875.

Married 1896 Ashfield. I can't see Samuel or Frances' deaths in NSW and I can't see any of them in shipping records so far. I can't see them in 1881 census on FamilySearch site.

Death # 39846/1968 CLIFTON LYDIA SAMUEL FRANCES ELIZABETH BURWOOD

I could be wrong in saying this is the marriage:

Marriages Mar 1870
Stockdale Frances Elizabeth Manchester 8d 400
Young Samuel Manchester 8d 400

Regards,

Dave

Hello Emeltee & Steve,

Thanks for looking. I really don't know. Lydia didn't marry until 1896 in NSW so she may have arrived anytime and may not have arrived in NSW. So far I can't see Samuel, Frances or William or any other children in Australia either in death/probate/burial or shipping records.

Can we find deaths in England for Samuel, Frances Elizabeth and William A?

Regards,

Dave

Hello,

My guess is that Samuel died young. I wonder if there is any sign of Frances Elizabeth in 1891. There might be something 'odd' about the 1881 census.

I've gone through the deaths in NSW & Qld. since 1871 looking for any children of Samuel YOUNG & Frances Elizabeth (STOCKDALE) and only found Lydia.

I can't see a death in all of England that would match Frances.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Steve,

Thanks a lot. Place is right, not sure about middle name, and I don't mind the age being a bit out. It's a possibility but not worth the money to get the certificate considering his position in my tree.

I can see a lot of YOUNG births in Salford 1871 - 1881 but no way of knowing if any are siblings of Lydia & William Alfred. Looks like we are stuck until Lydia is found in shipping records or her birth is found in Australia.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Bushy,

Thank you very much. That looks very interesting. I always wondered if they had more children than William Alfred & Lydia. Sorry, I have no info on Samuel or Frances' parents. That's one more name to look for in shipping records. I wonder if Lydia was born in Australia or bv ?

Regards,

Dave

Hello Bushy,

Still no sign of them on shipping records. The Will of a Frances YOUNG is that of spouse of John with children David & Margaret so looks like a different one. I've looked at NLA old newspapers and found nothing yet.

Dave

Hello,

Assuming John George was born in England in 1874 and with Lydia's birth in NZ in 1876 I've checked dozens of passenger lists of vessels to NZ 1874-1876 and no luck so far. Why is it that you have to know the vessel first? :D Can't search by family name.

Regards,

Dave
