Sanders lookup please.

Would someone be able to do a look up for me please.

I am trying to find Robert Sanders B 14th March 1848 in Rothwell, Northamptonshire.

I have his first marriage certificate to Emma Wykes in 1869 He later married Emma Healey in 1877 all in Northampton.

I am trying to find his parents.

On the marriage certificate it looks like his father is James Sanders & he might have been a postman.
The witnesses look like Joseph Sanders & Martha Edith Sanders Possible sibblings maybe. Found a marriage for Martha Edith in 1875.
The certificate is very unclear so I am guessing really.

Any help would be appreciated

Peta, these census I think are connected to yours , James is a postman I looked on the hand written copy which I can print and scan but I don't know how to paste it here, I don't know where he was in 1851 but both Joesph and Robert were visiting at the time of the census and Martha was not born yet. If you need anything else please let me know.

Thanks for that.:kissu: It definately looks like the right family. Can't work out why joseph & robert were elsewhere on the 1851 census & robert disappears on the 1861. Strange. I have him on the 1881 census with his 2nd wife & children.
Could I impose again & ask you to check the 1871 census for me as well.

Peta, what I am copying the person who typed it was spelled his last name wrong the hand written copy does state sanders. I can make copies of any of the hand written cencus I just can't paste them here. If you want any of those just private message me with your email address and let me know which ones and I will gladly print and scan them on my computer and email them to you. Hi Joyce & Jeff,

Thanks Joyce Have PM you. Would love anything you can send. Going by the bible there should have been a Harry Sanders on the 1871 census, born 7th Nov 1870 but he would have been born only 6mths after Ellen who was born 12th May 1870. He only lived till 1873. Mmm will have to check further on that one.
Yep Jeff I have had personal experience with the name being spelt wrong. Still happens now with my married name of Andersen. I always get Anderson at the very least. I have never come across the Launders & Landers. Will have to keep an eye out for that.

I found the census for 1861 but robert is not on it unless of course he was visiting at that time too and who he was visiting with did put in on or gave the wrong infor. It does however have both martha and Joseph on there and James again is a postman.

Oh yeah, I had gotten Ellen name off the 1881 census where she was abt 13 and used her name on the 1871 census where I found the printed mistake. so I don't know about ellen and harry unless I have everything wrong. :'(

I could not find James in any census except 1861 and the 1871 then a death index for 1876:'(

Hi joyce,

The Ellen in the 1871 census would be right. The bible said she was born 12/5/1870 which would make the age of 10mths on the census about right. The Harry in the bible must be written wrong as I found a listing for him in 1872. Will need to order a certificate to be sure. Ellen died in 1884 Harry in 1873 & another Walter james in 1875 only lived 4 mths. He had 9 kids in his second marrriage only 4 made it past their early 20's
I wonder why robert isn't on any census with his parents,This is weird.

i found James death last night as well. & Elizabeth Sanders in 1885. I have been having such fun trolling the 1881 free census. Was up till late last night. It makes it so much easier when you have names to work with:biggrin:

I found 2 thomas but neither one was born in Northampshire, Peta, I think you need to order at least one registeration of birth so we can get elizabeth's maiden name. One thomas was a grandson and the other was visiting. oh yeah I am going to email all the copies to you in picture form

Thanks for that Joyce, Will look forward to getting them. Yep will order a certificate over the holidays. Was going to try for Robert but I have never found a definitive record for him. Think I have for his younger sisters though so will try one of them first. Hopefully something will show up.

Seems Robert never spent a census night with his family until after he was married. Poor kid seemed to always be farmed out elsewhere.
