HI all, I am new, so please forgive if I am doing this wrong. I am currently trying to research Sarah Pledger (nee Sammey) christened 11/3/1792 St Andrews, Enfield. Married St Andrews Enfield to John Pledger 9/6/1814. John was a Postillion, Post Boy, Chaise driver.. all the same thing as far as I can see. I have nothing further on John, the children ( John, George, Samuel, Ann, Sarah) were born at Enfield Wash, Monken Hadley, Barnet. The only Sarah Pledger that I can find in the census (I can't find her in 1841) shows her at Enfield Almshouse in 1851 and 1861 as a widow. They have a sister with her in 1851 Susannah HOLMER. I can't tie this sister in... so I don't know if I have the right Sarah Pledger. I have obtained the death cert for Sarah Pledger in Enfield in 1861 and it lists her as widow of John Pledger an agricultural labourer. Sarah Snow is witness to the death, but it doesn't say that she is a relative. Are there any records for the Almshouse to say who and how they selected the widows to live there? Would this Sarah Pledger in the Almshouse be the right one??? The son Samuel b.1816 Monken Hadley is my line. Thank you so much for any help.
