Any help would be appreciated.

Richard Scott b. abt 1847 Ireland
married : Annie McGown/McGowan Approx May 1866, Mt Charlres, Inver, Donegal
Richard Scott d. 25 December 1909, at 268 Main Street Bellshill, Scotland son of Richard Scott & Susan Crow.

I have not been able to find the birth of Richard, or the marriage of Annie & Richard in Donegal nor a birth or Death for Annie and have had no luck locating Richards parents either.

The marriage details have come from Richard & Annie children birth certificates and Richards parents names have come from Richards death certificate , son was the informant.

After some more digging and scratching around I think I've dug myself into another hole redf)

Located a death for a Honor Scott widow of Robert Scott, coal miner in 1923, age 84 yrs....
the witness son Richard Scott.

place of death is 8 John Street, Bellshill, Lanark

Richard Scott jnr, is living at this same address in 1912 when he married a Bridget Sands, but his age is listed as 36 yrs (dob 1876) The birth record I have is 1873.

So my problem now is has Annie become Honor McGown and husband Richard snr has become a Robert ...

Then Ive got the birth year difference for their son Richard jnr 1873-1876,

Family notes that I have kept, say that Annie definitely should be an Annie McGowan and same goes for Richard Scott snr......
and that their son Richard jnr never married

Large number of deaths in Lanark for an Annie Scott.

Looking at deaths in Bellshill for McGown/McGowan and Scott there are several but all too young if age is correct.

Another son of McGown & Scott (Joseph)

Marriage doc for 1901, Bothwell, Lanark
Joseph marries Annie Bell

has parents listed as Robert Scott coal miner & Annie Scott ( McGown)

Both parents would have been alive when Joseph got married.

So something definitely going on with my Annie aka Honor McGown and Richard aka Robert Scott snr

Also

Just checked the signature of informant ( Richard jnr.) on death docs for the Honor Scott 1923 I just found and Richard Scott in 1909, exactly the same

Hello Ellie,

Yes I have got all the children + Joseph b 1877 and a William b 1871 birth docs and the 1909 death doc of Richard aka Robert snr. Each childs record has were parents were married in Inver, Mt Charles, Donegal, May 1866, the actual day is between the 14 & 17th....

Thanks for the info on poor relief, not thought of that possibility, but if the doc that I have on Annie aka Honor is the correct person which I'm thinking it is then she would have been a widow for 14 years, on her own and no income.....

Just confusing me a little with this name variation I'm getting.....

Also thank you for the 1911 Census on Richard jnr. Looks as if he is on his own, and this would have been just before the marriage I found with him and Bridget Sands in 1912.

I don't see Honor fitting into your family. Scott surname comes from the Southern Clan Scott ,so is prevalent in Scotland. Was she still living when husband Richard died 1909.

The Glasgow Poor relief records are very good. I have used them myself for my Armagh side ,and found he had lived in Wales before moving to Scotland, and told me where his father was now living in Ireland that was in 1871 .

Ellie, thanks for this referral just got a reply back....

Thank you for your email of 6 October. Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you. Our email system has been experiencing problems over the last few weeks, which has resulted in a delay in sending and receiving emails.

I have searched the archive index to Glasgow poor relief applications for both Annie/Honor Scott (and variations of all names) and Richard/Robert Scott using the details you helpfully provided. Unfortunately I have been unable to find any entries that tie in with these details.

I am sorry that I could not have been of more help on this occasion, and wish you well in your research.

All the best,

Michael

Sadly nothing found, but that was so good of them to do some research on my behalf....
