Scottish marriages. Is there a free search?

I'm trying to check the date of a marriage in Fife in 1984 in August 4th or 6th. Is there a free search for this or do I have to go onto Scotlands People and pay for a look?

Hi Duckweed

I was looking for a marriage in scotland and couldnt find it so i wrote to the below address and they emailed me the marriage dates with in days.

records@gro-scotland.gsi.gov.uk

Hope they do the same for you
