Hi, apologies for my first post being a request, hope someone can help.
My great grandfather, Charles Self/Pratt, was born in 1888 to Sarah Self and Thomas Norman Pratt illegitimately (as far as I can confirm as no sign of marriage certificate and Charles was baptised under the surname Self). Thomas died in 1893 in Lambeth, London, and is noted as residing at 131 Vauxhall Street. I've not been able to find Thomas on the 1891 census and had thought to find Vauxhall street to see who was resident there in case that was of any help, but i keep failing to find 'Vauxhall street', i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I also cannot find Charles Self/Pratt in the 1891 census but he was born in the Lambeth Workhouse so not sure again how that would appear in the census. I can find Sarah resident as a boarder at 14 Golden Place, London (interestingly noted as Widow at that point although Thomas is still alive).
Any help with the above would be appreciated.
Just for info, it appears after Thomas's death that Charles eventually stayed with his granmother, Mary Ann Pratt, and eventually adopted the surname Pratt later in life.
