Searching for family history and occcupations - Barnes, Frank Ernest and Frank Percy

Hello all,

I'm doing a search for the surname Barnes. My grandfather, Frank Percy Barnes, was born August 1900 in Croydon, Surrey, UK. His father, Frank Ernest, was born 1866. His mother was named Sarah Alice Elizabeth Funnel, who was born in Maidstone, Surrey. That is pretty much the sum of what we know on this branch of the family. Frank Percy left the UK in 1920, off to Everett, Washington, then up to Vancouver, B.C., Canada, where he became a fire captain in the Vancouver Fire Department. He retired to San Diego, California and passed there in 1983.

We don't know of any other siblings that Frank may have had.

Thanks Gibbo! Looks right on the 1911 census information. Rarely saw Grandpa Barnes as he and Nana lived 2500km away. Never knew he had other siblings and I'm now certain that some family must exist in the UK.

Barnes is a very common name so it will take a bit longer to find the right Barnes - Hodges marriage.

4x Funnell & Chatfield marriages so that will be easier.

Sarah does not seem to be with parents in 1871 so that makes it a bit harder.
