Help have a 25 year gap in my family research looking for information on Fred Johnson B1905 Scarborough Parents Thomas Johnson B1859 Marton le Moor
Ada (Farrar)B1871 Marton cum Grafton have traced family back as far as 1786Fred was my Grandad and l have no information on him from his birth to him marrying Florence Topham 1930 Doncaster. Only info l have is that the family lived at sometime around Aldborough St John (North Yorks) or Melsonby and possibly Ferryhill he had 3 stepbrothers, 2 stepsisters.
He had 2 siblings Elsie May Johnson B1899 Carkin Forcett and John Edgar Johnson B1901 Melsonby think that John Edgar married a Grace Ann Crossman in 1920 Ferryhill He would have been 19 and she was 60. l know that Fred ran away from home and joined the army and spent time in Afganistan his mother Ada died in 1930 in Aldborough St John and think that Thomas had died a few months earlier. Would be grateful of any information Thanks Pam

Hi Julie
thanks a lot for replying l have been trying lots of army museums as the only lead we have is the nickname of the regiment which was Northern Horse. No date of enlisting or area. I thought if l could trace one of his brothers or sister that might give me the answer as to why he ran away from home. Am going to check out the marriage later on this year atrrecords office make sure l have the correct one.
Thanks again
