Hi All,

I am new to this forum.

I recently purchased a small collection of glass plate negatives, and amongst them was this image of a seaside resort, possibly somewhere in the uk.
Can anyone help identify this location please. I have searched the internet, but cannot find any possible locations that it might be.

Many thanks,

Dave

Hi,

Looked at Llandudno, looks similiar but not the same. Are you able to read the writing on the 2nd building to the left. It’s to small for me to read.

Hi juliejtp,

Thanks for the reply.

I did consider Llandudno as well, but I felt with a modern image from roughly the same angle, there are too many buildings that have gone.

Thanks for the tip regarding the word on the building in the background, I just looked through a loop at the negative, and can read the word
'Madeira'. It could be a hotel, so I will look now for that, and see what I can find.
Also after seeing this word, I realised the image above is the wrong way round, so here is the image the correct way.

Many thanks

Hi juliejtp,

I have possibly got a candidate for the location now. I think it is Weston-Super-Mare.

The area where the 'Madeirs building is, is called Madeira Cove, and the large building in the centre of my image is still there today, although it has alterations.

Cheers
