Our obituary notices contain the announcement of the death of another old colonist in the person of Mrs. P. Shanks, who died at her son-in-law's residence on Saturday last. The deceased lady arrived in the colony on August 31, 1839, in the ship Somersetshire, and may therefore be regarded as one of our pioneers. She was married in South Australia and survived her husband some 14 years, leaving two sons, four daughters, twenty-six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She had reached the age of 72 years.
