Shears of Surrey - request for information and primary sources

Hi all,

I am researching my family of Shears who immigrated to Australia in 1857, the parent being William Shears and Jane Shears (nee Walsh). I believe they were married between the years of 1846 and 1848. Can anyone provide details, or point me me into the right source, of their marriage date and certificate or registry entry. My research has indicated that William Shears was born 1823 in Surrey, and Jane Walsh was born 1828 in Surrey, however, these dates may be rubbery.

Also, I am seeking information, and original entries (if possible), for the birth records of their children, namely, Walter Shears, who was born between the years of 1847 and 1848, and Amelia Shears who was born between 1854 and 1855.

I understand that I have not provided detailed information, but any help would be appreciated.

I san't find anything in Surrey so the following may just be coincidence

familysearch has a baptism for a Walter William Shears on 18th June 1848 in Eton, Buckinghamshire, parents William and Jane Shears.

FreeBMD has the following births

Male Shears Dec 1847 Eton vol 6 p 337

Amelia Jane Sheers (sic) Sep 1854 Eton vol 3a p 231

1851 Census

HO107/1718/F447

High Street Eton

John Walsh 45 Pipemaker Eton, Bucks
Hannah Walsh 38 wife Skirmott Hambleton, Bucks
Jane Shears 22 dau Reading, Berks
William Shears 3 grandson Eton, Berks

I can't see a marriage for William and Jane but that doesn't that it's not out there somewhere. I have checked the nonconformist registers available but nothing there.

Nothing seems to fit for Surrey. There is a marriage in Bucks in 1850 for another William SHEERS.

Assisted to Victoria:
MAR 1857 ADMIRAL BOXER 12 304
SHEERS WILLIAM 34
SHEERS JANE 29
SHEERS WALTER 8
SHEERS AMELIA 2

Your information is helpful and my money is on the Shears of Buckinghamshire is the same family. I have now found the passenger list for this family.

Thanks again, and regards
David
