No they were not. So it's looking more like Unassisted.

Alexander was working in Sydney in 1901. I don't have anything earlier on him yet.

Finding nothing before 1901 in TROVE that helps.

Thanks. Yes I did find that one. Sort of ruled it out because Alexander was a sculptor. Expected to see him in Sydney or Melbourne.

Thanks gibbo. :)

That fits for name, age and origin but not hair colour. :2fun:

Actually, it's his sister Elisabeth J who is in my tree.

So it looks as if they didn't arrive together.

I thought they would be found together but it seems not so.

We know Alexander and 2x Elizabeth also arrived. I don't know about Edward and William.

Oh. I've just noticed a whole heap of SHERIFF on the 'Dacca' 26 Jul 1887. Names that are not part of the family in the census. George 43 and Jane 41 and children. David could well be a cousin and not the one in my tree.

We can see the actual copy and that is what the original says. I can't find another SHER(R)IFF family on the Mariners site so perhaps the infant didn't count but even then Emma does not sound like Elizabeth, so I don't know.
