After 14 years in Arbroath and Glasgow they decided to emigrate and Alexander arrived in Sydney on ?Cotopaxe? on 27th April 1882 as 3rd class passenger.·. Alexander was 39 yo at the time. His 43 yo wife Elizabeth, daughter Elizabeth Jarvie 13 yo, sons, David 12 yo, Edward 9 yo, and William infant followed later.
