Sidetracked

Hi Gibbo

Sidetracked you're not kidding. I was in York looking at parish registers and one was an absolute cracker. The vicar had written in the margins his opinion of anyone he didn't approve of. One lady was a hussy, another would have to explain to her husband how she had got pregnant and had the baby when her husband had been away 11 months. It just went on and on Mum and me were in fits of giggles, not really the attitude to have when in the Borthwick well not according to the looks we were getting. We did try to keep quiet even left the room a couple of times. We read all the entries still didn't find my ggrandfathers birth. Another way of getting sidetracked is earwigging, again at the Borthwick (why there) this very la di dah lady was horrified that her ancestor had been born out of wedlock, even though her husband said it was correct she would not believe it and went on for ages how the register was wrong. Anyway I've really sidetraked myself now I've just booked my ticket to Adelaide to see my rellies. Watch out Australia.

Hi Beth
I would have laughed at the vicar comments as well and that would have sidetracked me as well, reading it all! I thought vicar's were not suposed to have been judgemental? Well obviously he had some opinions! Earwigging....love it. Have you been to Australia before? If not i think you will love it.
