My husband who is English recently found out that his great grandfather Edward Hartigan murdered his greatgrandmother Catherine McCormick on august 6th,1906 in Portswood. There were articles in The Stockport Express covering the murder, the trial and his hanging on Nov26th 1906. The first article was The Portswood Murder. We have tried to access the archives of the Stockport express but could not. A fellow on The Virtual Knutsford site has transcripts of the trial but I sent him an email and got no reply. The link was three years old so don't know if the fellow is even around anymore. He was a relative on Edward Hartigan's side of the family. My husband would be from Catherine McCormick(Hartigan) side. How can we get this information ?
