been looking for the birth and whereabouts of jane matthews prior to 1881. her birth is given as anywhere from 1849 to 1856 in staffordshire/ lancashire, but most probably silverdale in lancashire, have sourced this info from census returns and the births of her children. I have found a census return for jane in 1871.as follows
jane matthews age 18 born silverdale, a servant unmarriied
she is living on Heath End Farm Keele Silverdale. The owner and head is a George Vernon. I suspect it is her the dob is about right and the area, the problem is if its her i cannot find her on the 1861 census. if she was born in silverdale and keele in almost next door and is there in 1871 , looks like she stayed in the same place . so why carnt i find her . any ideas welcome . suex
