Hi I'm new to the use of a forum, but hope someone can give me guidance. In 1899 my Grandfather JOHN ROBERT POLLOCK was awarded a certificate of competency as a First-Class Engineer by the Board of Trade which in in my possession. He was born in Liverpool on 26 Aug 1871 and served an apprenticeship as an engineer which would last until 1892. Which shipping company he then served in and on which vessels still eludes me.
He left the sea about 1901 to take a post in Wolverhampton Any clues as to where to search further would be appreciated. Bill Pollock
