Hello! I have been looking (for the last five years!) for a birth record for my Great great Grandfather William Henry Frederick Forester (1818-1898) who was supposedly born in Surrey, England His father's name was apparently Richard Forester (as seen on his wedding certificate in 1851 in Birlingham, Worcestershire.). I have looked at every website, archive, newspaper etc. but still can't find him. Don't know where else to look. ! Any ideas? Thanks. Ginny

Good morning! Thank you for your help. I do have a lot of information about his life post-1851 and my Grandfather's diary which states that he was bought up by his half-sister Amelia Thornton, I can't find her either! Going back further it states that his father (Richard?) killed a fellow-lieutenant in a duel on his way to America as he had bought a commission in the Army but left for the US just prior to his son's birth. It's an interesting story but little is borne out by facts before 1851. He had 13 children and was a JP in Glamorgan, Wales where he ran a profitable business . I would like to know so much more about his early life though and most of all who his Mother was. That's a bit more information so will leave it to you!
Thanks so much again. Ginny
