Hello Barbara,

Thanks.

STUCKEY, Elger Visitor Married M 27 1824 Agricultural Laborer East Lambrook, Somerset
STUCKEY, Amy Visitor Married F 26 1825 South Petherton, Somerset
I left the daughter off the shipping record in post #1:

Dorcas 8 - South Petherton Somerset Edgar & Aimy C.E. Read

Oh. So where is Dorcas in 1851?

VAUX, Dorcas Daughter F 5 1846 Scholar S Petherton, Somerset
Ah. I can count to 8. If Elgar and Amy married in 1851 then the shipping record must be right. It lists them as her parents. Can't see a birth reg as VAUX. Now FreeBMD seems to be down.

Regards,

Dave

Dorcas Richards VAUX b. 9 Feb 1846 South Petherton, Somerset

Father: Elgar Stuckey b. 1 Feb 1823 Kingsbury Somerset c. 28 Dec 1823 Middle Lambrook Meeting Kingsbury Episcopi Somerset

Mother: Amy Vaux c. 11 Apr 1825 South Petherton Somerset

No info on Samuel & Susanna apart from their marriage in 1806 in the tree I've found.

Joseph is a farmer/dairyman and he died in 1872 in South Petherton.

It's possible Susanna died in 1849 and Samuel died in 1855 and that he is in Kingsbury Episcopi in 1841 and 1851. RD Langport.

Deaths Jun 1849
STUCKEY Susanah Langport 10 297

Can't find Samuel's death in 1855.

I wonder if the author of another tree is assuming this one is the right one:

Deaths Dec 1855
Stuckey Samuel Bedminster 5c 475

The other in Langport is a grocer and born 1808 so probably too young. His wife is Susannah born 1816 so she is def too young to be Elger's mother.

Sweet dreams

Thanks Barbara.

Something is not right. The tree that has son Robert b. 1831 East Lambrook d. 1907 Camden, NSW

Yet the same tree has a death for Susanna in 1849.

Hello Barbara,

NSW death 8460/1907 STUCKEY ROBERT - SAMUEL - ELIZABETH - CAMDEN

I don't know what to believe now. The tree has 7 children, but not including Elgar, with Robert b. 1831 as the youngest and his death in 1907 in Camden.

The 1851 census has a Robert the right age but the same tree has a death for Susanna in 1849. There is a matching death but also a Susanna in 1851, mother of Robert.

If we believe the shipping record Susanna died before 1854 and Samuel was still alive. That means the Samuel & Susanna in 1851 is a different family or Samuel married a 2nd Susanna. I can find no marriage for a Samuel 1849-1851.

This one does not fit:

Marriages Jun 1839
COX William Langport 10 695
SAWTELL Eliza Langport 10 695
STUCKEY Samuel Reynolds Langport 10 695
Vigar Eliza Langport 10 695

That 1806 marriage is the only Samuel & Susanna marriage I can find but there should be a second one if there are 2x in census.

If I ignore the tree and say this is the death of Susanna just before they left England.

Deaths Jun 1854
Stuckey Susannah Langport 5c 289

Regards,

Dave

The Robert I found is the only one around that age, the next is 1840 and the son of Samuel and Ruth. Let me know if there is anything I can look at to help. But think more likely tree wrong and Susannah died 1854 and Samuel before 1861
