Just wanted to share the fact that i have made contact with my 2nd cousin (think i have that right) her grandfather was step-brother to my grandfather. The family surnames originate from France\Italy but our branch starts in India.

We met for the first time on Saturday at a friend\possible relative just haven't got the link yet - took my mum and aunty along and had a lovely time.

Funnily enough this meeting produced yet more information from mum and aunty that i hadn't been told before and of course my 2nd cousin and I compared\swapped info and photos. It's so lovely when researching your ancestors to find living relatives.

Hope fellow researches have had equally enjoyable experiences.

That's lovely news.
I managed to find a cousin of my mum's - he was aged 86 and living in Chesterfield. Our family had no idea where he had ended up, his mum and dad had moved from the NWest to live in Warwick in the 1950s and totally lost contact.
I went to visit him and his wife last year, and had a lovely afternoon, bringing him up to date with what had happened to his other cousins he remembered from his childhood.
Sadly he died earlier this year - but it was a priviledge to have met him, for sure.
It's what makes all the hard slog worthwhile - for sure.
Hawkeye.
