Supdt Of Police William Marley

Hi all,i'm looking to find out how i can get info on my ancestor William Marley,William was born in 1827 in Thorp,Durham and from the 1881 census he is listed as Supdt Of Police.How would i find info on him? or his career? :confused:

This is a very active police history society covering the Durham area. I am sure they will be both interested in your reserch and probably able to help you. The Durham force was not formed until 1840. Your relative is a senior officer possibly one of the first in the force, i am sure they will find some details of him
