Hello and welcome to FHUK

It helps us if you give us all the info you already have on the family.

Are you looking for details of Thomas himself or just his parents, grandparents...

It helps if we know we are working the tree one way only or both ways.

Do you know if Thomas has a middle name?

Regards,

Dave

I agree with others we need as much information as possible. however i have done a quick search and there seems to be only one Thomas William Henry Lockwood born in 1902, there were others in 1901 and 1903.

If the one I have selected is correct then his father was Thomas Henry Lockwood. I suspect his wife as listed Martha Ann is not necessarily your Thomas' mother as in the record concerned Thomas junior was 9 years old but parents only married 4 years His father was a stone cutter and they lived in wolverhampton
Will search more when you are able to give more information

Of course more info would help :)

Thomas Lockwood was married to Evelyn Maude Taylor in 1913 ( New Plymouth NZ )

Thomas father is Charles Lockwood ( farmer)
His mother was Hannah Maria Atkinson

Hope this helps, thank you for your replies:)

Many thanks

Hi Dave
It may be an area name of Bingley, I'll get the AtoZ out and check.

I can't understand why Charley went with his brother, and was recorded as single. When did Thomas Hannah and perhaps Albert go?
The jobs and ages of Arthur and Chas match on the census and shipping list, so I think it's them ok.

dave

Edit - can't see an area, but record confirms Bingley. Bingley is in Wharfdale district, just in case it's misleading

Another possible NZ death 1932/2328 Wood Sam 61Y

Searching NZ shipping records is a real chore. You need to know the year and the port of arrival and the vessel to get to any free on-line passenger list.

I thought I'd find out Charles's mother seeing as Emma Wood on 1891 census had only just married Thomas in Mar qtr 1890 Huddersfield ref 9a 472. Sam Wood was a child of hers from her previous marriage

In 1881 Thomas 43 Austonley with wife Sarah 36 Austonley (Suberb of Holmfirth) and same children plus Freddy 2 months, living Upper Waterside, Cartworth. (also suberb of Holmfirth)

1871 Thomas 33 with Sarah 26 with Mary Hannah 2 and Albert 2 months at Austonley

there is a marriage of Sarah Mellor Jun qtr of 1863 at Huddersfield ref 9a 429
Sarah would only be 18 and there is a big gap before the first child so I was a bit dubious. However checking for a Sarah Mellor born 1845 in Austonley, I found a match on the 1861 census, a servant living with u/m Martha Lockwood 55 and her married sister Martha Jane Beaumont 29, so I think it must be her.
