Hi folks. I've got my self cross eyed and totally confused. Need fresh eyes and thoughts to try and sort her and her hubby out.

Here's what I think I've found, so bear with me.

Susan Elizabeth Peach was baptised(IGI)24 Jan 1869, in Coleshill, by her mother Maria Peach. (Birth reg is 1868. Meriden, Warks.)

Maria Peach married John Moult in 1872 - Aston, Warwickshire(B'Ham).

John Moult was born c 1842 @ Middleton, Warks.

In 1881 census, Susan E. Peach in now Susan E Moult, understandably.

Susan E. Moult married William Joseph Hives/Ives in 1915. Wandsworth.

William Joseph Hives/Ives was born c1868 Battersea, London. Not found after 1891. When he is living with Susan and daughter, Dorcas Ives/Hives, c1890. Wimbledon.

Dorcas Ives/Hives shows up in 1901 as Grandaughter to George Brown(1854. Wimbledon) and Dorcas Brown(1851. Oxfordshire). Living in South Wimbldon.

Dorcas Ives/Hives married Charles Henry Williams in 1907. Kingston, Surrey.

In 1911 she is living with Dorcas Hives 1835. Lower Heyford, Oxon. (She married William Ives/Hives in 1857. Thornton, Bucks.)

Dorcas Ives(1835) is lost after 1871.

But her hubby William Ives/Hives b.1836. Hogston(Hoggesden), Bucks is found through all the census.

In 1911, William Ives/Hives is in Tooting Home, for the Infirm and aged,(Inmate), and in 1901 he is living with his daughter Ann Duke(nee.Ives/Hives) c1858. Thornborough, Bucks.

Questions.

1). Where was Susan E. Peach/Moult, in 1871 & 1901. (Down as being born Lower Heyford in 1911)

2). Where was Dorcas Ives/Hives(nee. Horwood)(1835. Lower Heyford)), in 1881,1891 & 1901 census.

3). Where was William Joseph Ives/Hives from 1891 to 1915.**

If you can make sense of any of this, and can help........please do.:2fun::2fun:

** EDITED.

FMP has William as William Thomas Ives in 1891. There is a Wm Ives in Newington London in 1901 with father Edward. Same occupation as William t - carman - and single born Walworth, London? Any chance same person, do you know his father's name?

Not that it helps find susie if it is!

Hi Barbara, and to think I was the only going one nuts over this mob.:2fun:

Charlotte Howse never married his reputed father.:2fun:

William Hows with G.Parents in Hogston. 1841.
William Ives with G.Father & his new wife in Hogston. 1851.

Thornton, Bucks. St Michael & All Angels. 12 Jul 1857
William(x)HIVES, aged fa, Bachelor of Thornborough, Labourer son of William Hives, Farmer
Dorcas HORWOOD, aged fa, Spinster of this parish daughter of Joseph Horwood, Labourer.

Witnesses Joseph(x)Horwood & Edith(x)Howes.

That's from the parish regs, and not any certs.;):)

Well, what a family. My head is birling.

Have you found William Ives in the 1881 census? Can you tell me where he is?

I don't like being beat and can't understand how Dorcas Brown can be a grandmother as well as Dorcas Ives. If they were the same age I would say same person especially as Dorcas Brown changed her place of birth in every census and her age. They also have a Wm Brown born Battersea with them in the 1881 aged 13. But if you have found him elsewhere that is another ship blown out the water.

Perhaps she reverted back to Ives when George died. It is something to do with this Brown family, it has to be.

William Ives c1837 Hogston, is in Battersea, with son George Ives c1860 Taunton(Thornton), Bucks.

They're in the household of George Gates c1846. Southampton, as boarders.

RG11; Piece: 647; Folio: 137; Page: 25.

Not found William Ives/Hives junior(1868. Battersea), in 1881/1901/1911........only 1871 & 1891.

Maybe I've got some wires crossed.:D

No, found him steve, it was the 1868 one, I am wondering if he is William Brown living with Dorcas and George Brown in the 1881 aged 13.

Hey,hard not to have wires crossed with this family.

I think possibly there's been a mistake with the 1901 census, and it is Dorcas Ives(snr.) and Dorcas Ives(jnr).

Maybe Brown and age, is a red herring. I can't see any marriage for a Brown & Ives/Hives, even taking into account of the age of Dorcas 'Brown'.

Too many census records 'missing' to make a judgement really.:(

I can't find a marriage for a George Brown to a Dorcas either! So perhaps they weren't married.

I agree you would have to start buying certificates to look into it further. They are like a Romany family, changing names as they please.

Will give up before I get frustrated with the Ives!

Thanks for the help Barbara, much appreciated.:)

To save my sanity, I'll leave this bunch of Ives for a while.

But I have found out, William Ives/Hives junior, was a haulier/haulage contractor of some sort, so he could have been on the road and missed the census. Can't say where his wife Susan(nee.Peach), was though, may she was with him.

Time for a break.:2fun:
