Hi, don't know if anyone can help.

Looking for a Sutherland MacAdie (he was my mothers father she never knew him), born about 1902 Thurso, don't know much about him, just that he left my nana and my mother who was only 3months old at the time, this is the information i was told by my nana a long time ago, she once said he asked her to go to New Zealand with him she didn'nt want to so off he went, don't know what happened to him, she never seen him again, so i would love to find out anything about him.

Thanks,
Lighty.

hi,,i can tell you he was in the merchant navy for a time...he joined in 1924.
There is also a marriage in durham in 1923,,but no way of telling if its your man,,unless you buy the cert.:)
the spelling is slightly different,,so it may not be him?

Marriages Mar 1923

Cusworth Gladys Hartlepool 10a 208

Hello Lee

Welcome to the forum, this thread is five years old so don't be surprised if the author isn't here anymore, but good luck with it anyway.

Hi Amanda

Thanks for the message, how would I go about researching this further?
do I need to subscribe to 1 of the genealogy websites? if so which would you recommend?

Regards
Lee

If you are sure he was born in Thurso around 1902,then Scotlandspeople will have an online birth record which will give both parents ,and when and where they married. There is also on same site the 1911 Census .This is a pay site, but very cheap,£7 should get you a good start.

Looking on1901 Census on Ancestry most of them have the McAdie spelling.
On Scotlandspeople make sure you use one of the
SURNAME OPTION (Traditional Soundex)
