With widow Mary C in 1891:

BONE, Edward T Son 16 Clerk In Engineers Office Greenwich Kent
So both are engineers clerks? No. There must be only be one but why middle name Templecombe on the marriage (does not appear anywhere else) and why put father = John a merchant?

One birth, one marriage and one death and no overlap = ONE. :D

Can anyone prove otherwise?

Hello Dave,

I've been thinking along the same lines!

Do we have any details about his mother, apart from the fact that she was born in the Bahamas?

Is it possible that one of her ancestors had the name Templecombe, which Edward adopted?

Just a thought - no proof! :2fun:

Another busy day ahead for me! :(

Hello Josie,

Is it Bermuda or Bahamas? ;)

I did notice on the marriage certificate Mary's father was John Bone Rice. I'm thinking RN / Greenwich. Also noticed Edward C was a widower when he married Mary in 1868.

Deaths Mar 1867
Rice John Bone 53 Medway 2a 275

I wonder if John Bone RICE has a connection to Chatham Marine Barracks. ??? John's spouse might be a Charlotte Mary.

John RICE & Charlotte Mary REYNOLDS
Marriage: 1 Sep 1838 Saint Anne Soho, Westminster, London

Marriages Sep 1838
Reynolds Charlotte Mary Strand 1 333
Rice John Strand 1 333

I had not searched for her at all. Just now 'mary croker rice' returns nothing. I can't find a tree with Mary.

I did search Templecombe on net and in 19C newspapers and only found the village in Somerset.

Why did I think I was finished with BONE? :2fun: How many generations of this family do I want?

Sorry Dave!

Yet another senior moment! I didn't check back - it was just in my mind that she was born in the Bahamas!

Hadn't noticed that Mary's father and husband both had the name Bone! Wonder if they were related (somehow) before they were married?

Catch you later!

Josie
