The Lodge, Holbeck, Leeds, Yorkshire, England 1871

New member
I am interested in an 1871 census address shown as 'The Lodge, Holbeck''. Two coal mining families with the surname Ragan lived there at the time. I think that the union workhouse was 'South Lodge' but I think that this address is different since there is no suggestion of it being a workhouse on the census and they are both living as families. It is possible that it was something to do with a coal or iron mining company. Can anyone throw any light on this?
