Hi, I’m relatively new to researching my Irish roots, and would like to know. The best source to search St.Michaels, Limerick.
I’ve found some
I’m trying to find more information about Thomas Nolan, b. 18th Sept 1841 St. Michaels parish, Limerick.
He enlisted in the army at Fermoy in Sept 1855, aged 14
His army number was #866 and served in the 80th Regiment.
He had a son Thomas born in Hong Kong in 1875.
I’m trying to find a wife for the elder Thomas, a baptism, and any more children, as I believe a daughter of his was my gt grandmother - only found through DNA
Please search my initial thread years ago for the full story!

This could be Thomas Snr. pension record, it's on FMP and could show his wife's name.

Thanks for all your replies. Have got Thomas seniors records and gone through them with a fine tooth comb.
Could I have got the wrong parent for the younger Thomas? I could only find Thomas Senior, who I assumed was the father, as he was in the 80th and stationed in Hong Kong between 1872 and 1876

Wow that was good going all those kids… I thought the 80th regiment were only in Hong Kong from 1872-1876
My grandfather was born in Manchester in 1906, so thinking that maybe isn’t his mother?

Could this be the marriage of Thomas Senior:
11.12.1870
Church: St.Patrick’s, Belfast RC

Thomas Nolan age 26
Address: Belfast Barracks
Occ: Drummer 80 th Regiment
Batchelor
Father: Thomas Nolan
Occ: boot maker

Sarah Armstrong
Address: Barracks
Occ: servant
Aged 18
Spinster
Father: James Armstrong
Occ: labourer

Both RC
Witnesses: Patrick Nolan & Margaret Gleeson
Ceremony by Rev W Martin

I know there’s a discrepancy in ages from this and his army records, but I’ve had those in other ancestors too ?

Sounds good, the regiment and rank are right and the age is only 3 years out, he may of lied when he joined up. If only we could find his death it may help and who is Patrick, brother???
