1911 census gives Thomas's wife as Annie B (married 16 yrs 8 children 6 alive) and the first born child Jane being at Cudworth Yorkshire in 1897.
Reg district for Cudworth is Barnsley so could this be his marriage

I found a cracking army record for the Thomas on my last 2 posts, Wife's name and address, father's name and address, children's births and where he served. turned out to be wrong father, and therefor wrong man. what a pity 1891- RG12- 2278-47-47

just seen your tree and notice you have followed the same route as myself. On the army record it gives Thomas's father as John of 73 Russell Street Wednesbury. The census record above is for that address in 1891 when your Thomas is living with his parents elsewhere.

Found it now, so he is with the Smith's in 1901 also...

Yes, the difficulty here is that there are a few possibilities, especially if the 1911 census is correct...

Although the 1911 census age is would be 3y or so out

Some of the confusion may be due to Ladywood, Staffs (? should be Warwicks). Another of his sibling's birth is given as Handsworth, Staffs (? should also be Warwicks). Both places/areas look be sub-districts of Birmingham.

Wednesbury looks firmly placed in Staffs.

thanks all for your help,yes this is a mind blower,his dad and i think step mother have kids with the name smith with them so i think rosa is their step mother but have been trying to search for a rosa marrying a smith but the only one i can find is in london to a alfred leopold smith which ties in to the one son who has the name leopold in his name but cannot find any links at all,but thanks again jayne x
