Is this your Hannah in 1851?

Civil Parish: West Bromwich
Ecclesiastical parish: St James

Possibly Thomas in 1861, Thomas and Hannah may be living apart, unless I've gone wrong somewhere. I notice Wrexham covers the Abenbury area.

Hi Geoff, Yes, you have the correct Hannah and Thomas. I cannot find any reference to their marriage!! I think its pure coincidence Hannah's maiden name is Barlow.

Mike.
We could probably narrow the dates down, taking into account Hannah's age and if they married before Ann was born, the marriage could be between 1829 - 1831.

Geoff

Edit: Thomas is quite a bit older than Hannah, he could have been married before and if his first wife was still living may not have married Hannah!

I have done further research on FMP and find:

Hannah (Evans): Baptism, 1813, Erbistock, Denbighshire. Could this be Hannah Barlow?

Thomas Barlow: Baptism, 1806, Wrexham. Denbighshire. Ten years after his berth!!?

To get any further I have to spend cash or get a 2 week free membership.

I have looked at Hannah's baptism transcript record, father and mother first names given - is that correct? do I have to look at the full record to get further info?

The initial baptism record for a Thomas Barlow is given as 1806 in Wrexham, nothing earlier, is this worth pursuing? considering the 10 year gap from birth.

There is a reference to a marriage - Thomas Barlow to a Hannah Evans (maiden name) at St Oswald's Church, Chester, Feb 28, 1828 (family search). The transcript does not show any parents info, do you think the actual certificate will show this info. ref 1538 - 2000

Hi Mike

I remember seeing something similar when I first looked, but it was a contributed entry. However, I've just rechecked and there is this, it says it is from the PR's. There still aren't any parents listed unfortunately.

Is this what you'e seen?

Name: Thomas Barlow
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 04 Feb 1828
Event Place: St Oswald, Chester, Cheshire, England
Marital Status: Single
Spouse's Name: Hannah Evans
Spouse's Marital Status: Single
GS Film number: 2068356
Digital Folder Number: 004018802
Image Number: 00097

Thanks Geoff, I have two options here, I think, obtain a birth cert. for Alfred W Barlow 1851 (child), V18, p669, or the marriage cert. Which is the one most likely to show the parents?

FMP has 7 marriages between 1826 and 1831 for a Thomas Barlow, 6 of them at St Oswald's and 2 for 1828. There are 4 for Hannah Evans in the same period, with 2 in 1828. I'm not a subscriber so I can't get any more info.

I now have the baptism record for Thomas Barlow, I need help in understanding the record: At the end of the line - 'Dorothy of Halton' is this her abode before marriage?
