Hi

I recieved the death cert of my ancestor Thomas Batten 1797-1863. He died 10 November 1863 at Abingdon Union Workhouse aged 65. He is still in Nuneham Courtenay in 1861 census. I do find it interesting when I find an ancestor who died in a workhouse. He died of paralysis.

Looks more like a prison, than a workhouse. Judging by the layout of it.

There was a prison similar to that in London. Millbank Penitentiary.
