Could you please look for Thomas Bilbe born 1803 Kent in the 1861 Census please.

I suspect he was still living in Rotherhithe

Wife Eliza Ann died 1859 I think in Gravesend
he was re married by 1864 to Jane Westbrook Bilbe

many thanks

Many thanks for the information:

Thomas Bilbe son was born in September 1835 and christened in Rotherhithe so would have thought that he was born there rather than Kent.:D

free BMD shows a marriage for Thomas in 1860 in Kent

Marriages Jun 1860
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Baldwin Mary Malling 2a 579
Bilbe Thomas Malling 2a 579
Sheeter Alfred Malling 2a 579

but only has the three entries on the page I expect that this is his marriage to Jane Westbrook ? but no entry is shown for her in the index.

There is a marriage for Thomas Bilbe in FreeBMD
Marriages Sep 1856
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
ARNOLD Ann Rotherhithe 1d 808
BILBE Thomas Rotherhithe 1d 808
Hewitt Elizabeth Rotherhithe 1d 808
HEWITT Elizabeth Hare Rotherhithe 1d 808
Shreeve Isaac Rotherhithe 1d 808

Which I asume to be Thomas (son) so surprising he is alone in the 1861 Census. I don't know who he married.

Many thanks:)

Hi,

I have been sent a copy of the marriage certificate for

Thomas Bilbe and Ann Arnold 1856

This shows the father of Thomas Bilbe as occupation Shipwright so I think he is the son of Thomas Bilbe born 1810 not Thomas Bilbe born 1803 who is described on the marriage certificate of Frances Sarah Bilbe as Ship Builder in 1852.

The two families are very confusing it would be very useful to be able to sort them out.
