Those numbers could just be the Scotlands people reference?

What are you after with Thomas, just any info?

Only issue with 1871 is pob as Scotland:

1871
RG10 Piece 3826 Folio 5 Page 4
Civil Parish: Kirkdale
County: Lancashire
Registration District: West Derby
Sub-RD: Toxteth Park
Address: 67 Westminster Road
Thomas Blackley lodger wid 38 Iron moulder Scotland ? [Ireland]
Thomas Blackley lodger 16 Railway clerk Liverpool
William Blackley 15 Shop errand boy Liverpool
Archibald Blackley 12 Liverpool

There are 2x Thomas both Iron moulders. One of the problems is that the name appears with about 7 variations in the records in Scotland and England.

I can explain Archibald and Isabella. :)

Births Mar 1861
BLACKLEY Archibald Liverpool 8b 29

RD Liverpool - Sub-district St Martin - County Lancaster
No. 263 - Twenty Seventh January 1861 94 Hedley Street - Archibald - Boy - Thomas Blackley - Janet Blackley formerly Neil - Iron Moulder - Janet Blackley mother 94 Hedley Street Liverpool - Twentieth February 1861 - John Simpson Deputy Registrar

Archibald Blackley c. 11 Dec 1862 Grove Street Chapel, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Thomas Blackley & Jane Blackley

Births Mar 1856
BRAKELEY William Liverpool 8b 7

1856 Birth in Sub-district of St Martin - Registration District Liverpool in the County of Lancaster
No. 108 - Thirtieth November 1855 - 35 Eldon Street - William - Boy - Thomas Brakeley - Janet Brakeley formerly Neil - Iron Moulder - The mark of Janet Brakeley Mother 35 Eldon Street Liverpool - Eleventh January 1856 - John Simpson Deputy Registrar

William Blakeley c. 5 Oct 1856 St. Peter, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Thomas Blakeley & Janet

I think that shows it's the right family in 1871 minus daughter Isabella.

Isabella is with her paternal grandmother. The census is a real mess and there are two puzzles (the youngest two) with it I've not yet solved. The others I can identify.

1871
Civil Parish: Paisley High Church
County: Renfrew
Address: 57 Broomlands Street
Francelia B?? 57, born Ireland [Isabella]
Mary G 34, Mill Weaver born Paisley [Ireland]
--- who is this ?
Ann Bechett 24 daughter Paisley
Bechett 11 granddaughter England [Isabella]
Farrie Bechett 8 granddaughter England [Jessie]
James Bechett 3 grandson Glasgow ??
Sarah Bechett 1 granddaughter Glasgow ??

Jessie is the youngest:

Births Mar 1862
BLAKELEY Jessie Liverpool 8b 79

Jessie Blackley c. 11 Dec 1862
baptism/christening place: Grove Street Chapel, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Thomas Blackley & Jane Blackley

I can't explain the last two, James and Sarah.

Thomas senior had several brothers. Older brother John didn't marry until 1873 and his 3 children Sarah Jessie, John William and Isabella were all born after 1873. Brother William is 15 and Archibald 12 in 1871 so neither would be the father of either James or Sarah.

Unless I'm missing a previous marriage for John ??? I can't be:

Marriages Dec 1873
BLACKLEY John W. Derby 8b 602
Bastard Sarah W. Derby 8b 602

1873 Marriages solemnized at Everton in the Parish of Emmanuel in the County of Lancaster
No. 125
November 9th 1873
John Blackley - 20 - Bachelor - Hotel Porter - 14 Pinder Street - Thomas Blackley - Iron Moulder
Sarah Bastard - 20 - Spinster - - 14 Pinder Street - Stephen Bastard - Master Marine
Married in the Church of Emmanuel after Banns by me Henry Carpenter Vicar
Both signed
Witnesses: William Robert Fletcher, Margaret Fletcher

Possible...

Thomas Henry Lang
Q4 1855
RD: Liverpool
Vol: 8b
Page: 4

Geoff
I doubt that Geoff. No sign in baptism, shipping record, marriage, Qld. E/R or death that Thomas had any middle name.

No reason for Thomas BLACKLEY senior to have Thomas junior registered as LANG.

Only two. I work on at least three at the same time.

So the next question re James and Sarah is what could the family name be if it's not BLACKLEY?

Isabella born 1835 Ireland died after 1871. No marriage or death found so far. She is in the 1871 census with no name --- [Isabella] They could be her children I suppose.

Older sister Mary born 1831 Ireland died unmarried in 1915.

Sarah born 1837 Ireland left Scotland in 1865 and died enroute to Australia.

Catherine born 1839 Ireland married in 1864 and is here:

1871
Civil parish: Westoe
Ecclesiastical parish: Holy Trinity
Town: South Shields
County: Durham
Registration District: South Shields
Sub-RD: Westoe
ED: 13
Household schedule number: 232
Thomas Kelly 32 Ireland
Mary Kelly 31 Ireland
James Kelly 14 St Helens, Lancashire
Frances Kelly 10 St Helens, Lancashire
Catherine McNaughton Visitor widow 30 Ireland

EDIT: I have my Catherine with family in 1871 in Paisley.

Ann born 1846 Paisley not found after 1871 census where she is listed as 24.

Ann not yet found in 1851.

Minor puzzles so far. The main one is yet to be reposted.

These are clearly the youngest two children of Thomas BLACKLEY & Janet NEIL:

Bechett 11 granddaughter England [Isabella]
Farrie Bechett 8 granddaughter England [Jessie]

Catherine married in Paisley. I have nothing that shows any of the family in Glasgow.

Catherine is 21 and Ann is 15 in 1861.

One index entry:

1871 BECKETT SARAH F 1 PAISLEY HIGH CHURCH /RENFREW 573/01 030/00 002

The image is hard to read but the transcription is very poor.

1871
Civil Parish: Paisley High Church
County: Renfrew
Address: 57 Broomlands Street
Francelia B?? 57, born Ireland [Isabella Blackley] Widow 67
Mary G 34, Mill Weaver born Paisley [Mary Blackley] [34 Unmarried] [Ireland]
- ---------------- [Catherine Mcnaughton] [31 Married]
Ann Bechett 24 daughter Paisley [Ann Beckett] [24 Married]
Bechett 11 granddaughter England [Isabella Blackley]
Farrie Bechett 8 granddaughter England [Jessie Blackley]
James Bechett 3 grandson Glasgow [James Beckett]
Sarah Bechett 1 granddaughter Glasgow [Sarah Beckett]

David Beckett
marriage: 31 Dec 1866 High Church Paisley, Renfrew
spouse: Ann Ramsay

Sarah Beckett
birth: 2 Nov 1869 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark
father: David Beckett
mother: Ann Ramsay ???

Ann married 1861-1871. Where is Ann in 1851?

I can't see an Ann BECKETT born 1844-49 in 1881 census on FS.

I can't find a death that fits. Not this one:

Death 1926 BECKETT ANNABELLA L [other surname] [mother's maiden name] F 75 PAISLEY /RENFREW 573/01 0189

I'll have to be more careful with my credits. I have used 14 and that last one was wasted because I used names starting with 'ann' instead of using exact match.

The image reads BECKETT so we have Ann age 24 a Mill worker born Paisley in 1871 census married with two children James 3 and Sarah 1 also BECKETT both born Glasgow. That much is clear enough from the image.

I'm not spending 6 credits each on all 5 possible deaths for Ann.
