Thomas Bourne 1734?

Here is my second brickwall.
I have an ancestor called Thomas Bourne who married Jemima Bagnal 2 Sept 1759 at Whitmore. His IGI birth on the marriage record is described as abt. 1734 Shelton. Now I know that they did buy a plot of land in Shelton, on Zachary Meadows, as I have seen the copyhold record but I can find no definite trace that he was born there or who his parents might have been. He died about 1802 and his children were Thomas born 1760, Samuel born 1764 and Hannah born 1768. He is also described as a potter from Stoke-on-Trent on the marriage record.
Can anyone help me push the family back further?

When did they buy the land? I not there is a chancery dispute about inheritance but name is spelled Thomas Burn. Possibly apprentice records might yield something?

Marriage record is for Thomas Bourn.
24 Febuary 1773 Thomas Bourne (potter) and his wife Jemima bought 87.5 sq yds of land on Zachary Meadow off John Middleton (copyhold pot works and housing in the Staffordshire Potteries 1700 - 1832 compiled by Peter Roden). Whether it was purchased as a dwelling or a pot works is not recorded. At any rate part of it was bought back by Mathew Mare on 3 Feb 1818
Bourn, Bourne and Burn were often interchangable. I have many illiterate ancestors who used the above names on different records.
When is the chancery dispute? it might be connected.
