Thomas CARTWRIGHT father of Edward Thomas Coleman CARTWRIGHT

Looking for info on Thomas CARTWRIGHT who had a son in Australia called Edward Thomas Coleman Cartwright in 1861. Mother was
Agnes Coleman born in Ireland 1841. Agnes remarried James Meikle in 1874 - details on the marriage cert state she was a widow as of 14 March 1863 (Thomas DOD?).
Interested in birth, occupation etc for Thomas and when they migrated to Aust.
I can't locate any birth details for Thomas in Aust records so thinking he may have been born I/seas & migrated.

She apparently come back from VIC to revenge the murder of her husband

I reckon he was reg as a Cartwright and when he mum [agnes] remarried he took his step father;s name of Meikle.

Register children under both names.

Nope we arent getting anywhere with him. Might wait until poster replies about Thomas's birth cert and take it from there.

We don't know if he arrived married with Agnes or if he arrived unmarried and with family or alone or to which colony.

We don't even know where Edward was born. Age at death does not point to 1861.

His funeral notices are under Meikle. They dont give anything up neither.

Thanks for all the help. Yes, this one is complicated!

I have Edwards birth as Reg as 21144 in Bendigo. I haven't got a copy of this yet - next step in this mystery I think.

We think Agnes may not have been married to Thomas CARTWRIGHT when Edward was born - can't locate a marriage cert anywhere so far. Maybe this is why when she remarried, they all took on the MEIKLE name?? Although she is described as a widow on the marriage cert to James - ref is 880 in Bendigo Victoria. Thomas is a mystery - I can't locate any birth or death records. I had seen the newspaper details re revenge her husbands death but don't know how he died or why revenge? Would like to find this out. No idea where else to look.

According to the burial record he died from HEPATITIS. GASTRITIS.
To find out more you would have to obtain his death cert.
