Hi,

I have found this record of Thomas' Marriage on Family Search

Name: Thomas Cumming
Registration District: Belfast
Event Type: MARRIAGES
Registration Quarter and Year: Jul - Sep 1880
Estimated Birth Year:
Age (at Death):
Mother's Maiden Name:
Film Number: 101253
Volume Number: 1
Page Number: 411
Digital Folder Number: 4179386
Image Number: 00561

It doesn't give the wife's name which if it is the correct marriage is Margaret I don't know her maiden name so can't search for the matching record.

Looked at the northern Ireland site for ordering BMD certificates but it is asking for:

full names of the married couple and bride's maiden name
date and place of marriage.

Which I don't have!

Any help in confirming this and finding the brides name would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Ed

I've just rang the Irish GRO to see if it can be purchased from there. BUT......it's a bank holiday.:2fun:

EDITED: Put in the right phone number.

Hi Ed.

From what I can see, one of the 5 brides listed is Margaret M'Morron.

Steve.:)

Thanks that looks very promising as the correct match.

I had the year of the marriage from the 1911 Census which shows they had been married 30 years.

Ed.

Is that the English or Irish 1911 census.?

Aaaah, Ok. Living at 3 in Glendowen Street (Ormeau, Down).;):)

I would also hazard a guess, that Magaret's surname is McMurren or McMorran.

Hi,

Yes great to get further information on my Great Grandfather this has been a blockage since I started in that this was as far as my mothers memory went.

It would be interesting to know if my Grandfather worked on the Titanic he was an apprentice Iron Turner in Belfast he finished his apprenticeship in 1907 with Workman Yeames. My mum said he worked at Harland and Wolfe in Belfast.

He certainly spent most of his working life at Harland and Wolfe in Southampton after leaving Belfast at around the time of the first world War.

It is very good to know more about his parents.

Ed.
