Hi Dave,

It looks like this could be Thomas in 1851 as a Grandson with Grandmother Alice Fryer -

Name: Thomas Price
Age: 7
Estimated birth year: abt 1844
Relation: Grandson
Gender: Male
Where born: Sunderland, Durham, England
Civil Parish: Gilling
County/Island: Yorkshire
Household

Apologies for some mis info above -

He is actually a Great Grandson of the head of house William Stairmond. But Alice Fryer appears to be a widow and a daughter of William Stairmond. She is likely still Thomas' Grandmother though, the mother of his mother Elizabeth Price nee Fryer

Looks like a marriage of Thomas' Grandparents -

Name: Alice Stairmand
Gender: Female
Marriage Date: 13 Nov 1816
Marriage Place: Gilling (Near Richmond),
Spouse: Christopher Fryer

Christopher died in 1849

Probably a connection with both in RD Teesdale in census.

Births Dec Qtr 1843 PRICE Thomas Fryar - Sunderland 24 287 mmn FRYAR * parents Thomas & Elizabeth - both dead by 1866

No other births in GRO 1837 - 1851 with mmn Fryar or Fryer ?? Something wrong somewhere??

I can't find Thomas & Elizabeth in 1841. If Thomas was their only child where is the marriage?

Difficult to say, Dave.. But going by Ann's age, the first number could be [1] suggesting [16]. This is a partial copy for ID purposes.

Thanks Geoff.

I read it as 16 not 76.

If that is the right marriage for George then a witness is Richard.

I can't find the Richard Fryer & Alice Stairmand marriage.

Don't know Geoff.

If I'm tracing the same families they moved west from High Coniscliffe to Gainford to Staindrop.
