Looks like NSW BDM will be down for a few days.

Browne and Stewart.

No L* Stewart marriage to Brown(e) in Vic. 1840 - 1900

No L* Brown(e) marriage to Stewart in Vic. 1840 - 1900

No L* Palmer marriage to Stewart in Vic. 1857 - 1900

So only one marriage for Leonora and error with Stewart on 1929 death reg ?

First birth in Vic. index is in 1856.

I can't find the marriage in Vic. or SA or Qld. or England or FS for Australia.

No Leonora Palmer on Assisted or Unassisted to Vic. lists.

No Leonora Palmer on Assisted list on NSW Records site.

No known death for Thomas senior.

I can't find a notice in Trove for Leonora.

Something to ponder. Not validated..

A few trees have his marriage [Thomas Palmer Sr] in South Africa..
"Marriage
1850 Pietermaritzburch, South Africa
Leonora Brown
(1830–1882)"

Thomas may have been a soldier in South Africa, another tree has a him as a UK Naval Officer or Rating?
There is this arrival, but he looks to be on his own..

Victoria, Australia, Assisted and Unassisted Passenger Lists, 1839-1923:
Thos Palmer
Age: 31
Arrival Date: 13 Jul 1854
Port: Melbourne, Australia
Departure: Liverpool
Ship: James Carson
Nationality: English
[Also in PROV]

Some trees have this..

Mrs Palmer
Arrival Date: 12 Jun 1855
Arrival: Williamtown, Australia
Departure: Cape of Good Hope
Ship: Kate Mcwhinney
Nationality: British
[Interesting departure port]

Geoff

Thanks gibbo.

I can't see two marriages for Leonora to explain 'Stewart' either way as maiden name Brown(e) or Stewart.

Leonora could have been born England or South Africa or ...
