Martha was Rebecca's next older sister and was born in 1815, the year before the family returned to Tahiti where they were to spend the next fifteen years.

In December 1837 she and Thomas A. Hogg were married and they went on to have nine children, three of whom died in infancy.

The Mitchell Library has as Record 9093619, a journal written by Martha's mother, Hannah, from September 1819 to August 1821 during their time living in Tahiti. At the back of the volume there is another journal written by Martha's elder sister, Elizabeth Betsy Crook. This journal was written on a voyage from Sydney to Calcutta, July to October, 1845 when she sailed with Martha and William Hogg. A pencil note at the beginning of this journal says Surgeon Hogg was returning to India in charge of horses for the Indian Government.
