Scenario - Could the headstone have been done years after her death and the wrong year was given to the person making the headstone.

No death reg. for a Sarah Neale in 1855.

I've seen cases where the headstone transcription is suspect because the headstone is hard to read but that is a clear 1855 so rather odd.

Is the rest of the headstone correct?

Must have been added later and the wrong date given or the monumental mason got the date wrong.

Next time at the Chatswood library I'll check the year on the next page of burials to see if it is 1853 or 1855.

That image is odd with September 1853 then July with no year. Then October with no year.

Ok, I checked the film today and that page and several pages before and after all have 1853.

The last figure not easy to read but a 3 not a 5.
