The wife and the wife's mother both arrived as convicts from Ireland and both with an alias.

Ellen Monks was indicted for the wilful murder of her husband, Thomas Monks, at Longnose Creek, on the 31st October, 1859.
Prisoner pleaded guilty.

Ellen is a daughter and married.. I don't know if Deasy or Dawson is Catherine's maiden name.

I also don't know if Deasy or Murphy is Ellen's maiden name.

Ellen was married in Ireland and had to wait several years before she could remarry in NSW.

Yes, but a long way off a main line. I've gone a bit further than normal out on that branch.

Connects to Harris family from Wales and West family from Scotland.

I have one on another branch murdered by bush rangers.

I've got all sorts in my tree.

Convicts, clergymen, policemen, soldiers, judges and a chief justice, even a professional singer. :biggrin:
