the 1881 census has two Alice Peacocks, born Bitton age 6. One is the daughter of Thomas (fish hawker) and Mary Ann and the other is the daughter of Matthew (shoemaker) and Elizabeth.
A Matthew Peacock married Elizabeth Shephard 23 April 1871 at Kingswood near Bristol. Matthew's father Robert Peacock, Elizabeth's father George Sheppard.
The 1861 census shows Elizabeth Sheppard as the daughter of Jane and George Sheppard, a mason.
The Alice Peacock in your 1891 census, granddaughter of Jane Sheppard, is the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth, not the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ann.

Thanks stockpot.

Matthew and his family are not part of my tree. Well, not as far as I've extended it to date.

I can't see a death 1881 - 1891 for Alice, dau of Thomas & Mary Ann so she should be in 1891 census.

I don't know yet if this one ...

1901
Civil Parish: St George
County: Gloucestershire
Registration District: Clifton
Thomas PEACOCK 64 Living on own means Oldland, Glos.

is this one ...

Thomas Peacock c. 7 Sep 1834 Oldland, Gloucester
Daniel Peacock & Ann

A possible death for the fishmonger would be Q3 1891 in Aldbury Wilts aged 60. (ref vol 5a p 112).
He was on his own at the 1891 census, did he have a married daughter living in Aldbury who he went to just before he died?

I know of no connection yet to Wilts. I started tracing the youngest Alice and have not tried to trace the other 4 daughters.

The 1901 Registration District: Clifton
Thomas PEACOCK 64 Living on own means Oldland, Glos.

is NOT

Thomas Peacock c. 7 Sep 1834 Oldland, Gloucester
Daniel Peacock & Ann

I looked at the image for 1901, he has a wife Rebecca and I found them in 1891. They were together in 1881 too, Thomas a coal miner and with Hamblin step children. I looked for Rebecca Hamblin and children in 1871, she was the wife of William Hamblin a beerhouse keeper in Bitton. William Hamblin died 1873 and Rebecca Hamblin married Thomas Peacock at St Philip & St Jacob Bristol in 1875. His father was given as Samuel so not the same as the baptism you have and obviously not the Thomas who is married to Mary Ann in 1881 with daughter Alice.
PS can you tell me how to put quotes from previous messages in a little box ? I wanted to quote your query at the start of this message but couldn't work out how to do it. Thanks

Thanks stockpot.

I have no Samuel in my tree so that's a different branch. Will have to investigate the death in Wilts further.
