Hi Dave, 18 months later, I'm finally able to write to you re this pair, my gg grandparents. Took a break from it after browser problems here.

You mention Thomas Plummer's mother's arrival in Australia 1841 on Queen Victoria, apparently following her mariner husband to Australia.
Did you know Elizabeth Plummer (Plomer on the QVic) nee Moore then married in Sydney 1842 having ascertained or got agreement that husband Alderman W Plummer had died. The new couple ie Elizabeth & Nicholas Leader, petition to get access to whatever assets Alderman had. Not much and copped some debts too. They go on to have 2 children. I have a ship name supposed linked to Alderman's disappearance but no proof. Also his eldest son, same name and also a master mariner, vanishes late 1860s. Have tracked down as many lines as possible.

Happy to elaborate if interested. I see you also have interest in the Channon name. Cheers Heather

Thanks for the details.

Thanks Dave. Elizabeth Plummer (Plomer) brought 4 of her 5 sons to Australia - Thomas, Joseph, Edwin and Charles. The eldest Alderman Wm. b. abt 1825, is listed as a 2nd mate in merchant service 1850 and I suspect stayed in UK. In 1861 he’s still a mate - this my last ref.for him as 1871 I can only find his wife and 3 daughters. Unfortunately they don’t marry.

I can’t link the two William Plummer you have marriages for (Priest and Sewell), although Alderman snr’s father and brother were named William. No doubt a pretty common name.

I’ve received references to Councillors named Alderman William Plummer from all parts of UK and the USA - confusing but unlikely.

I see you also have people named Carter and wondered if Sydney Herbert Carter 1855-1885, was related? He’s first husband of Thomas & Harriet Plummer’s daughter Adeline, more commonly known as Pat. Heather

Sorry, I missed that one somehow, Heather.

Don't see a connection in my tree to Sydney Herbert Carter.

I can't link either of those William Plummer marriages.

Dave
