Hello Barbara,

The submitted record is partially correct. :D

Births Jun 1838
PRICE Elizabeth Margaret Barnstaple 10 47

Death 1877/C0784 Cooksley Elizabeth Margaret - Thomas Price - Elizabeth Price Baxter

The Brisbane Courier (Qld. : 1864-1933) - Thursday 8 March 1877 p.2
DEATH
COOKSLEY.-On the 8th March, at her residence Roseholm, Hamilton, Breakfast Creek, Elizabeth Margaret, the beloved wife of William J. F. Cooksley, aged 38 years.

Daughter Elizabeth is the reason the family is in my tree.

I can't see the marriage on SP so it looks as though it was in England.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

So going by the daughter's age they would be in the UK in 1841 and leaving about 1848? I have searched on the census tho and can't find them.

The closest Thomas I find is a soldier in Devon or Dorset, sorry was yesterday, a long time ago for my brain. There are loads of others but none in Devon and loads in Wales. I didn't look at the Welsh ones but maybe should have?

Hello Barbara,

Thanks for looking. I come back to this:

I hope he was not in the army.
:2fun:

Perhaps he was after all and he met Elizabeth while stationed in Scotland. I mean, why would she be in Devon otherwise?

It's just one more on my list of puzzles in my tree.

Regards,

Dave

Hello Barbara,

A soldier is the only thing that makes sense to me.

Please see if you can find that soldier again in 1841. Thanks.

Don't bother with looking in Wales.

Searching for them in 1841 I can only find this one:

name: Elizth Price
event: Census
event date: 1841
gender: Female
age: 5
birthplace: Devon
record type: Household
registration district: Stoke Damerel
sub-district: Tamar
civil parish: Stoke Damerel
county: Devonshire

Regards,

Dave
