Looking at the layout of the inscription, Sam and Jane are in two "columns", Sam, 1855, on the left and Jane , 1871, on the right. Jane's inscription is longer as it includes "wife of Sam Reynolds" but Sam's inscription is spaced out more so that they both reach down as far. Then Thomas Reynolds inscription is crammed under Jane's column leaving a space on Sam's side. Underneath that William Reynolds is inscribed over the full width.
Seems an unusual layout. I wonder if Thomas was a baby who died a long time before and was buried at the hospital but Jane or someone wanted him remembered ?
