Hi Glenn and welcome to the Forum.

A death for Thomas was all I needed thanks. A remote branch of my tree via Menzies.

I've not been able to confirm 1887 although it looks to fit.

Hi Julie and thanks Dave.

Thomas was born on 6 March 1833 at Kurrajong near Richmond and died on the 7 July 1887 at the age of 54, at Orange, about three months after the birth of his youngest child, Harold.

I'm in touch with some of the Menzies clan if you're interested, Dave.

Re: Player and Townsend
Julie, I doubt you'll find any link between the Player's and the Townsend's before my grandparent's marriage in 1925. My grandmother, Ethel Ena Kitching was the seventh of nine children and fifth of six daughters of Elizabeth Ann Player and Albert Kitching.

Elizabeth Ann Player, b.22 April 1870 at Mudgee, was the eldest child of John Player and Elizabeth Ann Peake. John Player is a bit of an issue. Despite having the Player surname, it is commonly believed that he was the son of Edward Sullivan and Elizabeth Ann Rope, who was, at the time, married to Thomas Player, a convict who arrived on the Baring in 1815. The pair had several children together. It was John Player's baptism record that eventually listed Edward Sullivan and not Thomas Player as the father.

Hope that's a bit clearer than mud.

Elizabeth Ann Rope was the youngest daughter of Anthony Rope and Elizabeth Pulley, both first fleet convicts. You can find out more about the family and the line at http://www.ropepulley.org/

Hope this fills in some details for you.

Cheers,
Glenn

I have these marriages connecting my Furner family - two errors with Turner - I'm trying to get those corrected if it's only the index that is in error. If the minister or his clerk made the error in the register then tough luck.

2534/1912 TURNER GEORGE J F W - MENZIES ROSE Z - NARRANDERA * 22 Feb 1912

10187/1916 MENZIES ANDREW McL - TURNER ELLA V - JUNEE * 19 Aug 1916

and

14208/1947 JENNINGS GEORGE WEBB - MENZIES DOROTHY ZILLAH - COOLAMON * 11 Jun 1947

George's grandmother is a Furner.

I've done a bit of work on the Menzies family.
