Thanks Geoff.

The middle name is Watson.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wednesday 18 June 1930 p.10
DIVORCE SUIT.
MELBOURNE, Tuesday.
Before the Chief Justice and a jury of six in the First Civil Court to-day the hearing was begun of a divorce petition by Horace Watson Thompson, of Wedderburn ...
... The marriage took place at Bendigo on October 18, 1924. ...

Recorder (Port Pirie, SA : 1919 - 1954) - Friday 27 June 1930 p.
Alleged Impropriety.
HUSBAND LOSES VERDICT.
MELBOURNE. Thursday,
The case in which Horace Thompson, of Wedderburn, claimed divorce from Olive Thompson, and £3,000 damages from Dr. Brian Woods, of Wedderburn, on the ground of impropriety, was concluded today. The jury, by a 5 to 1 majority, returned a verdict in favor of the wife and Dr Woods.

Perhaps Sidney was previously married. I mean the 1936 may not have been his first and that Olivia May may not be Olive May, or may be.

The first marriage did take place but I can't explain why Olive used her maiden name for the 2nd.

Yep, the second 2 have the middle name Watson.

I remember this from earlier, I thought we found a marriage for Horace/Olive but not on the index ? I remember the divorce citing the doctor, but I don't think we found the full outcome, as I recall.

Sidney also looks to have died in 1936.

We know the divorce was unsuccessful so we are left in the air I suppose. If that is Olive in the E/R with Sidney claiming to be married then did she marry using her maiden name and pretending to be a spinster or is there no 2nd marriage?

I can't search on fiche at the library past 1921 so I started this topic hoping some site had records past that date.

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957) - Saturday 22 November 1924 p.17
MARRIAGES
THOMPSON - KILFEDER.-On the 18th October at All Saints' pro-Cathedral, Bendigo, by the Very Rev. Dean Percival, Horace Watson, youngest son of Mrs. E. Thompson and the late Mr. G. Thompson, Merbein, to Olive, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kilfeder, Monien, Barnard street, Bendigo.

Can anyone find a site that has Victorian marriage records beyond 1921?

I looked again at the State Library yesterday and the fiche only go to 1921.

Horace watson Thompson was the partner of my grandmother muriel. My father mel offspring of her first husband took both names and formed the gray-thompson that muriel used as well. I have his war medals and my son has the gold watch but we have little of the story. i gather the man who later became our primeminister for years sat on the bench I'm not sure if it was over the accidental killing of another family member or Horaces divorce proceedings but she had a hatred for sir robert menzies. I wondered if there are any living relatives from the Thompson clan in violetown victoria or am i the last to carry a remnant of the name of this wonderful man who everyone who knew him speaks kindly.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for the info. I'll add it to that branch of my tree. Kilfeder is not a direct line. Connected by Mellefont family from Kinsale/Cork.
