I am searching for info on the parents of Thomas Jiggins, born Feb 1761 in Rayne, Essex. On his birth certificate Thomas' parents are Samuel and Sarah Jiggins. There could be a Felsted, Essex link but I am not sure. Any help would be gratefully received,

David

Hi David

Welcome to the forums.

When you say birth certificate do you mean his baptism record? Birth certs were not existing until 1837.

I take it you would like to find the marriage of Samuel and Sarah Jiggins?

P.risboy who is a mod on here has mentioned to me about some Jiggins of Essex so maybe he might have something on certain Jiggins of Essex.

Hi Benny,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I suppose I am talking about his baptism record. Anything at all about Samuel and Sarah would be great. I did find them on IGI as Thomas' parents but it only has their Christian names. My family were mainly agricultural labourers and so they probably moved about from village to village.

Regards

David

I have ancestors in Felstead as well. Britton and Dalby and Livermore. So I may have come across any Jiggens families in the parish records.

Hi Benny1982,

I have had another look back at he piles of paperwork that I have collected over the years and I can find a Samuel Giggins, baptised Feb. 1727 at Holy Cross Felsted.
Felsted is only about 3 miles North of the village of Bulphan where my (Jiggins, Jiggens, Jeggons, Giggins, Gigons, Gigion, Jinkins, Jenkins, Jenkyns ????) trail starts with Thomas Jiggins, born 12 Feb 1761, baptised 16th March 1761, parents Samuel & Sarah Jiggins.

It is Samuel and Sarah that are really giving me the headache. I can find nothing to fit them. I have found a Samuel (baptised 15 June 1823, Indepependent Church, Braintree) & Sarah (born about 1825) in Felsted, . These two are obviously too young to be my S & S. (This Samuel's parents were James Jiggins and Sarah (nee Minet)).

Is there some way that I can send you an abbreviated chart of just this era of my discoveries (one sheet of A4) so you can compare them to your Felsted discoveries if you wouldn't mind looking for me?

Thanks for your help,

Regards,

David Jiggens
